Compliance with EMS Publication Ethics
Applicants to European Mathematical Society (EMS) calls are expected to adhere to the Society’s policies on ethical publishing as set out in the EMS Code of Practice for Mathematical Publication. The EMS takes a strong stand against Predatory publishing and sets out its position in the document On Predatory Publishing.
The EMS reserves the right to assess applicants’ publishing practices as part of the evaluation process, in order to safeguard the integrity, quality, and reputation of mathematical research supported by the Society.
In particular, applications from candidates presenting evidence of publication records that have systematic engagement with journals or publishers that exhibit predatory behaviour—such as the absence of genuine peer review, lack of editorial transparency, or exploitative publication practices—may be rejected on those grounds.
