Code of Ethics of the European Mathematical Society

The Code of Ethics of the European Mathematical Society has been approved by the EMS Executive Committee on 12 July 2024.

The EMS promotes collaboration and understanding in the mathematical community across Europe and beyond. The EMS is committed to the principles of

  • Respect: treating all members with dignity and consideration.
  • Integrity: upholding the highest standards of honesty and ethical conduct.
  • Diversity and Inclusivity: embracing diversity in all its forms and ensuring equal opportunities for all members,

The EMS trusts that its members will

  • Engage in professional and respectful communication.
  • Foster an inclusive and friendly atmosphere free of harassment and discrimination.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and constructive scholarly community.

The Executive Committee of the EMS, in collaboration with other appropriate EMS committees, will adopt documents implementing the principles mentioned above in different areas of the professional activities of mathematicians.
