Royal College of Music, London 1st IMA Conference on Mathematics in Music
Conference
The Institute of Mathematics and its Applications will run the first IMA Conference on Mathematics in Music at the Royal College of Music in London, July 13 - July 15, 2022, with the support and sponsorship of the Royal Musical Association. The conference will focus onto the exploration of the connections between mathematics and music, in particular current developments of music theory, music performance, music perception and music technology based on or inspired by mathematical applications and concepts, including (but not limited to) category theory, group theory, topology, differential geometry, combinatorics, analysis, acoustic theory, as well as artificial intelligence, deep learning, language processing and coding. The event will feature a plenary session with contributed talks, a poster session, a general-audience lecture and four invited plenary lectures from world renowned researchers in the field: Prof Emily Howard, Royal Northern College of Music Prof Guerino Mazzola, University of Minnesota Prof Geraint Wiggins, Vrije Universiteit Brussel & Queen Mary University of London Prof Moreno Andreatta, CNRS Director of Research at IRMA, University of Strasburg More details and registration instructions can be found on the conference website: https://ima.org.uk/18115/ima-maths-in-music-conference/ The organising committee is very keen that student researchers are a core part of this event and would very much like to encourage anyone studying music and mathematics to submit an abstract to join us for this conference. The event will include a student prize for the best submission, with the winning student being awarded a book voucher from the IMA and a free RMA membership from the RMA.

Royal College of Music, London, UK IMA Maths in Music Conference
Conference
The study of the relationship between music and mathematics has a thousand-year-long history which predates Pythagoras. Mathematics and music share a common basis of language and creativity. From the theory of tuning systems and temperament to physical acoustics, from harmonic analysis to spectrograms, from the structures of rhythms and pulses to the continuous stretching of the laws of harmony and the exploration of the musical forms carried out by contemporary composers, all elements of music lead to an immediate connection to mathematics. Established and recent research has witnessed the use of set theory to describe how musical objects are related and organised, the use of group theory in the context of transformational analysis of tonal and atonal compositions, the application of Grassmannians to the study of temperaments, and the investigation of category theory, topology and differential geometry to provide a basis of music theory.

Brno, Czech Republic Equadiff 15
Conference
Equadiff is a traditional conference that covers the theory of differential equations in broad sense, including ordinary differential equations, partial differential equations, and their numerical analysis and applications. The tradition of the Czechoslovak Equadiff dates back to 1962 and since then the organization takes turn in Prague, Bratislava, and Brno. The Western Equadiff conferences started in Marseille in 1970 and since then the organization takes turn in various cities in Western Europe. Equadiff is therefore one of the oldest active series of mathematical conferences in the world. The coming Equadiff in Brno in summer 2022 will be the 15th conference within the Czechoslovak Equadiff series. The conference was rescheduled to the year 2022 from the original date in July 2021 due to an unstable pandemic situation in the world.

Birmingham/UK 7th IMA Conference on Numerical Linear Algebra and Optimization
Conference
The success of modern codes for large-scale optimization is heavily dependent on the use of effective tools of numerical linear algebra. On the other hand, many problems in numerical linear algebra lead to linear, nonlinear or semidefinite optimization problems. The purpose of the conference is to bring together researchers from both communities and to find and communicate points and topics of common interest. This Conference has been organised in cooperation with the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM).

Online/Craiova, Romania International Conference on Applied Mathematics and Numerical Methdods 2022 (fourth edition)
Conference
The International Conference of Applied Mathematics and Numerical Methods holds every two years at the University of Craiova and is organized by the Department of Applied Mathematics. Due to the exceptional conditions induced by the spread of the COVID 19 Pandemic, the fourth edition of ICAMNM 2022 will be a virtual - online - conference and it will be held between June 29 and July 2, 2022. The congress is mainly addressed to researchers, academic people, PhD students working in Applied and Pure Mathematics, Mathematical Biology, Mathematical Physics, Mathematical Engineering, Mathematical Economics, Mathematical Medicine, ODEs and PDEs, and Their Applications to Real World, Dynamical Systems, Control and Optimization, Algebra and Geometry, and Their Applications, Convex Analysis, Numerical Analysis and Their Applications. As joint event, a Workshop on Industrial Mathematics and Computer Science (second edition) will be held on July 2, 2022 and it will be mainly focused on presentations by persons working in Industry and academic institutions about the projects in which they were involved and used mathematical and computer science aspects.
