Statement on the attacks at Charles University
The EMS has a long-standing and highly valued relationship with Charles University in Prague, including as cohost of the 2018 EMS Council and the home institution of several esteemed EMS members. On behalf of the European Mathematical Community we extend our thoughts and condolences to everyone at Charles University, and all affected by the terrible events in Prague today.
EMS President Jan Philip Solovej writes: "I was deeply saddened and horrified by today's news of the shootings at Charles University in Prague. My thoughts go out to all the victims and their families and friends. Many of our colleagues at Charles University have been very active members of the European Mathematical Society. As far as I know they are all safe but our hearts are with them in this difficult moment."
