Statement of the DMV on ICM 2026

Dear DMV Members,
This message is to inform you of the DMV Executive Board's position regarding participation in the ICM 2026 in Philadelphia.
The Executive Board is aware of the current politically tense situation in the USA. Nevertheless, we believe at this point in time that we can support our colleagues on site more effectively through active participation rather than through non-participation. In this context we are also guided by the statement from the Local Organizing Committee of the ICM 2026.
Accordingly, the DMV and GAMM will send five delegates to the General Assembly in New York, which will take place prior to the ICM 2026. Furthermore, the DMV and GAMM, together with the DFG (German Science Foundation) and other leading research institutions and projects, will have an information stand on mathematical research in Germany at the ICM.
The DMV Executive Board naturally respects the personal decision of our members regarding participation or non-participation in the ICM 2026 in Philadelphia. The Executive Board did not make this decision lightly and hopes for your understanding and support.
