Leadership Changes at the Spanish Society of Applied Mathematics (SeMA)
The Spanish Society of Applied Mathematics (SeMA) has undergone significant changes in its Executive Council throughout 2024, welcoming several new members to key positions.
Professor Ángel Manuel Ramos del Olmo succeed Manuel Jesús Castro Macías as president of SeMA in June 2024. Ángel Manuel Ramos del Olmo is Catedrático de Universidad (Professor) at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Analysis, Complutense University of Madrid. He is the Director of MOMAT research group and he has been Director of Interdisciplinary Mathematics Institute (IMI).
David Gómez Castro succeed María Luz Muñoz-Ruiz as treasure of SeMA in November 2024. David Gómez Castro is “Ramon y Cajal” Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Mathematics Dept. of Universidad Autónoma de Madrid since January 2024. He is also a member of the Instituto de Ciencias Matemáticas (ICMAT) of CSIC.
Virginia Selgas Buznego succeed Generosa Fernández Manín in July 2024 as deputy president of SeMA. Virginia Selgas is Profesora Titular de Universidad (Associate Professor) at the Department of Mathematics, University of Oviedo.
Cipriano Escalante Sánchez and Rafael Vázquez Hernández are new members of the executive committee of SEMA. Cipriano Escalante is Profesor Titular de Universidad (Associate Professor) at the Department of Applied Mathematics, University of Málaga; and Rafael Vázquez Hernández is Distinguished Researcher at the Department of Applied Mathematics, University of Santiago de Compostela.
