EMS position on the ICM 2026 in Philadelphia

The EMS has listened to and understands the concerns of some EMS members regarding participation in the ICM 2026 to be held in Philadelphia, USA. The mission of the EMS is to prevent division in and provide support for the mathematical community - we see this as being more important than ever in the current situation. The EMS will therefore continue to support the IMU and the local organizing committee in their efforts to organize ICM 2026 and resonates with the statement on the ICM expressed by the American Mathematical Society. The EMS will send a delegate to the IMU General Assembly in New York, which will be held prior to ICM 2026, and will have a joint information booth at the ICM with EMS Press and zbMATH Open.
