The EMS Simon Norton Prize was established at the instigation of the Prize sponsor (the brother of the mathematician Simon Norton). Following its inaugural presentation in 2024, the prize will be presented again in 2026 and 2028, usually at the MATRIX × IMAGINARY conference.

The Prize is awarded to individuals, teams, or partnerships whose work in any area of mathematics engagement has had an outstanding and demonstrable impact or influence on its audience. Nominations are welcome from anywhere in the world. The award comprises a certificate (including the citation) and a cash prize of €1000.

The deadline for nominations is April 30th 2026. Submit your nomination using the 2026 Nomination form.

According to the Prize rules, the outreach activities should have taken place in the two years prior to the closing date. Self-nominations are accepted, but members of the EMS Executive Committee or the EMS Outreach and Engagement Committee cannot be nominated.
