Applications for the 2025 Fermat Prize are now open until June 30, 2025. The prize is awarded every two years by the Institute of Mathematics of Toulouse under the aegis of the University of Toulouse.

The Fermat Prize recognizes outstanding mathematical research at the highest international level in fields where Pierre de Fermat made significant contributions:
- Statements of Variational Principles, or more generally partial differential equations;
- Foundations of Probability and Analytical Geometry;
- Number theory.
Application Process:
Applications can be submitted by the candidate directly or by a sponsor who wishes to nominate another researcher (without the candidate necessarily being informed). The application deadline is June 30, 2025, and winners will be announced in December 2025. Applications must include:
- detailed curriculum vitae and academic record of the candidate;
- list of publications, including works not connected with application to the Prize;
- a summary of the research works which would justify awarding the Prize;
- a handwritten statement by the candidate or sponsor attesting to the truthfulness of the material supplied, and to the authenticity of the documents and other information provided.
To back up this presentation, the following could also be appended:
- copies of research work published in international journals;
- confidential opinions of personalities from the mathematical community as to the content, range and usefulness of the results presented by the candidate;
- names of personalities who could be directly contacted by the committee and asked to send recommendation letters for the candidate;
Applications should be sent:
- By email to: Prix.Fermat@math.univ-toulouse.fr
- By post to: Prix Fermat de Recherche en Mathématiques Institut de Mathématiques de Toulouse Université de Toulouse 31062 Toulouse cedex 9, France
