University Assistant (postdoc) Start date/duration: from 01.04.2026 for 3 years Administrative unit: Department of Mathematics Extent of employment: 40 hours per week Job Description: University Assistant - Postdoc (40 hours/week), Institute of Mathematics, starting April 1, 2023, for 3 years. Main tasks: Independent research in the field of numerics of partial differential equations, complexity reduction, and scientific computing (preferably low-rank approximations for kinetic problems in plasma physics); Independent teaching and examination; Supervision of students, including supervision of bachelor's theses; Collaboration on organizational and administrative tasks as well as evaluation measures; Continuing education. Required qualifications: Completed doctoral or PhD studies in mathematics, physics, or a related field; research experience in the field of numerical partial differential equations, complexity reduction, and scientific computing; experience with the implementation of algorithms in Python or Matlab; excellent English skills; Experience with C/C++; Experience with high-performance computing technologies (e.g., OpenMP, MPI, CUDA) is an advantage; Creative problem-solving skills; Ability to work independently and high level of motivation; Experience in working with students; Ability to work in a team; Willingness to communicate with colleagues.
