At the Institute of Statistics and Mathematical Methods in Economics, in the Research Unit of Mathematical Stochastics, TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (post-doc) limited to 6 years for 40 hours/week. Expected start: October 2024. The successful candidate is expected to conduct a high quality research program in the field of Probability Theory. The candidate will also contribute to the teaching mission of the research unit. Tasks: Conduct high quality mathematical research (both independently and with the other members of the research unit) in the field of Probability Theory, in one of the focus areas of the research unit Mathematical Stochastics: statistical mechanics, discrete probability, random geometry, Markov chain mixing, Stochastic PDEs Independent teaching or participation in teaching, in the Bachelor and/or Master programs Supervision of students Participation in organizational and administrative tasks of the research unit Your profile: Completion of a doctorate An excellent publication and research profile in theoretical Probability Experience in national and international research cooperation Fluency in English Knowledge of German or willingness to learn it Teaching experience in probability and/or statistics courses/tutorials and in autonomous organisation of exercise sessions and seminars will be appreciated We offer: A stimulating research environment, within a young and very active research unit, well integrated in the wider Vienna mathematical community Central location of workplace as well as good accessibility (U1/U4 Karlsplatz) A range of attractive social benefits (see Fringe-Benefit Catalogue of TU Wien) TU Wien is committed to increasing the proportion of women in particular in leadership positions.
