University College Cork |
Classification:
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Researcher position based in the School of Mathematical Sciences, University College Cork, Ireland. The duration of the position is 12 Months initially, with the possibility of a 12 Month extension. The postdoctoral researcher will work on the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI)-funded project "Ocean flow induced by internal wave-current interactions", as part of a research team lead by Dr. David Henry (UCC). This project will use tools employed in the fields of nonlinear partial differential equations, dynamical systems, Hamiltonian systems and integrable equations to address several gaps in our theoretical understanding of internal water waves. This project will involve collaborative interactions with a research team led by Prof. Rossen Ivanov (TU Dublin). The successful candidate will be expected to carry out high-level research related to the research project, submitting publications regularly to refereed journals and participating in national and international conferences. The postdoctoral researcher will also be expected to interact closely with postgraduate research students connected to this project. Informal inquiries can be made in confidence to Dr David Henry (Principal Investigator) at d.henry@ucc.ie. This position is available to commence on the 1st June, 2025.
