The Department of Nuclear Medicine together with the Department of Applied Mathematics is looking for a Research assistant to strengthen the Neuroimaging working group. The Department of Nuclear Medicine performs all nuclear medicine examinations and therapies for the University Medical Center Freiburg, as a maximum care facility, as well as for external referring physicians. The clinical and scientific focus of the Molecular Neuroimaging Unit is the use of molecular imaging of the brain with SPECT and PET for the research and diagnosis of neurological and psychiatric diseases as well as for basic scientific questions. This relates in particular to the genesis and development of degenerative and inflammatory CNS diseases. In the Department of Applied Mathematics, we deal in particular with the analysis and numerics of partial differential equations and the associated variational problems. The application areas of the methods developed here can be found, for example, in image analysis, continuum mechanics and biology.
