Classification: Analysis and its Applications

The University of Vienna (20 faculties and centers, 178 fields of study, approx. 9.900 members of staff, about 89.000 students) seeks to fill the position of a Post Doc at the Faculty of Mathematics as soon as possible. The Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Vienna is the largest Austrian institution of mathematical research and tertiary education in the mathematical sciences. It consists of active research groups in a wide range of fields, starting from logical foundations, bridging all classical core subjects, and up to concrete applications in industry. As part of the Faculty, the Institute of Mathematics represents the entire discipline of mathematics in research and teaching, without making an arbitrary separation into pure and applied fields. Duration of employment: 2 year/s Extent of Employment: 40.0 hours/week (full) Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade. Currently, this is €4.061,50 paid 14 times per year. Job Description: The advertised post doc position is within the Numerical Harmonic Analysis Group (NuHAG) and associated with the project Inside the frame set (FWF grant P33217) of Dr. Markus Faulhuber (email: markus.faulhuber@univie.ac.at). The position is a research position without teaching load. However, supervision of Bachelor theses may be requested. We are looking for a highly qualified researcher with special interests in one or more of the following topics: - harmonic analysis - time-frequency analysis - Gabor systems and frames - number theory - point configurations - energy minimization - phase retrieval - approximation theory - complex analysis Profile: A doctoral degree / PhD in mathematics or similar qualification is required for all candidates as well as experience in research. Past research should be documented by publications in recognized scientific journals. Additional qualifications: - outstanding scientific qualification, - goal orientation and dedication to scientific excellence, - international experience preferable.
