We have wide-ranging interests in data science and machine learning, and in numerical modelling, theory and observations of key applied mathematics areas to make breakthroughs in our understanding of real-life topics. We welcome applications that cover the main subjects of the proposal entitled “Mathematical framework for a stochastic approach to magnetic field extrapolations”. We will work with the successful candidate to bring their own unique skillset to address these scientific aims: developing fast, reliable and versatile mathematical tools to solve stochastic elliptic and hyperbolic differential equations. You will be supported to explore new methods beyond your current experience and develop your expertise in new techniques in mathematics/statistics research. This position is funded by the Leverhulme Trust, and you will work with Dr Stephane Regnier and Dr Gert Botha.
