The Johann Radon Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics (RICAM) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW), is offering a PHD STUDENT POSITION (F*M) in the Mathematical Methods in Medicine and Life Sciences Group (part-time, 30hrs per week) for a duration of 3 years, starting as soon as possible. The position is funded by the BMBWF and FWF initiative "Alternative Methods to Animal Experimentation", as part of the project “Digital twin for presurgical assessment of cardiac ablation” led by Dr. Argyrios Petras. The PhD student will become a part of the Mathematical Methods in Medicine and Life Sciences Group at RICAM, located in Linz/Austria, will collaborate with medical doctors and integrate finite elements simulations with medical imaging data for patient-specific modelling of radiofrequency catheter ablation procedure. Your profile: ● Completed Master study in Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Physics or similar field. ● Strong background in Finite Element Method. ● Familiarity or experience with Python and/or C++ programming languages. ● A keen interest in medical applications. ● Excellent knowledge of English language.
