The Institute of Discrete Mathematics and Geometry at TU Vienna invites applications for a PhD position within the SFB "Advanced Computational Design" in the subproject "Flexible Quad-Surfaces for Transformable Design". The webpage of the SFB: https://acd.tuwien.ac.at/ The PhD student will primarily work on the conic and elliptic equimodular classes of flexible Kokotsakis polyhedra (as described in the article "Classification of flexible Kokotsakis polyhedra with quadrangular base", IMRN, 2017), developing algorithms for their construction and studying their semi-discrete and smooth analoga in the context of discrete differential geometry. Required qualifications and skills: Master degree in Mathematics; good teamworking skills; interest in interdisciplinary research; fluency in English. Desired qualifications: basic knowledge in algebraic geometry and complex analysis; experience in working with Mathematica or Maple software.
