The School of Mathematics and Applied Statistics (SMAS) at the University of Wollongong (UOW) is within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences. SMAS is a dynamic and active mathematical sciences school with an exceptional research record. As part of SMAS the Institute for Mathematics and Its Applications (IMIA) carries out world-class research across a broad spectrum of areas in both pure and applied mathematics through its six research centres: Centre for Financial Mathematics; Centre for Geometric Analysis; Centre for Mathematical Biology and Medicine; Centre for Multidisciplinary Mathematical Modelling, Centre for Noncommutative Analysis, and Centre for Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations. The successful applicant will research the intersection of index theory and scattering theory with Adam Rennie, Alan Carey and Galina Levitina (ANU), and will be funded by ARC Discovery grant DP220101196. The successful applicant may have opportunities to contribute to student supervision. They will be expected to have broad expertise in the area of functional analysis and spectral theory, with expertise in Fredholm index theory and scattering theory. The successful applicant will become a member of IMIA and contribute to its research programs. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the most vibrant and successful schools in the country.
