5.5 Hirzebruch Lecture
To honour the memory of Professor Friedrich Hirzebruch, an outstanding German mathematician and the ﬁrst President of the European Mathematical Society, the DMV and the EMS have jointly agreed to establish a “Hirzebruch Lecture” given as a part of the European Congresses of Mathematics, beginning with the 7th ECM in Berlin in 2016. The lecture is supported by both of the societies.
The lecturer should be an internationally renowned mathematician who, in addition, has contributed signiﬁcantly to international, in particular also European, cooperation in mathematics.
Prize Committee selection guidelines
The selection of the lecturer will be made by a committee jointly nominated by the DMV and the EMS.
Nominations for the award
Nominations should be addressed to the EMS oﬃce at the following address, not later than December 31 of the year preceeding the ECM.
