EMS Handbook: Standing Committees

2.3.4 Education

The main aim of the EMS Education Committee is to monitor and respond to educational issues that could be of concern to EMS members. The committee reports, and where appropriate acts, on such issues, while not replicating work that is the responsibility of national mathematics societies.

The procedures in the EMS Education Committee consist of regular yearly face-to-face meetings.

The time between the meetings is used to take care of the new tasks emerging from the previous meeting and, secondly, to start early enough (about six months before) the agenda for the next meeting.

The EMS President as well as the liaison person are always invited to the committee meetings and thus receive the minutes from the meetings. In special cases, the chair of the Education Committee discusses important issues directly with the EMS President or attends meetings of the EC to discuss these issues there.
