Postdoctoral Position in Algebraic Coding Theory

The research group on NON COMMUTATIVE RINGS AND APPLICATIONS of the Instituto de Matemática e Estatística da Universidade de São Paulo, is accepting applications to a post-doctoral scholarship in Algebraic Coding Theory, for a period of 12 months, renewable for a second equal period. Research will be supervisioned by Prof. Francisco César Polcino Milies, in research on “Group Algebras and Coding Theory’’, with focus in topics such as: Codes in semisimple group algebras, essential idempotents in relevant cases and the determination of codes with best possible weights, study of other types of codes (constacyclic, twisted and skew) from extensions of the structure of group algebras. Candidates are expected to have an excelent history of graduate studies, with a PhD in Algebraic Coding Theory, obtained no longer than seven years ago (or expect to complete a PhD prior to the beginning of the scholarship) and experience in the area of the project evidenced through recent publications. The position is opened to both Brazilians and foreigners. The selected candidate will receive a scholarship of R$ 7.373,10 per month and a technical reserve of 10% of the anual value of the scholarship, to be used on items directly related to the research activity. The actual implementation of the scholarship depends on the aproval of the candidate by FAPESP.
