SUMMARY:Virtual Summer School Contemporary Algebraic and Geometric Techniqu
es in Coding Theory and Cryptography
DTSTAMP:20260401T014400Z
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20220717
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20220721
DESCRIPTION:Today\, digital information has become a valuable resource. How
ever\, the communication channels that we use for sending and receiving da
ta and those that we use to store data\, are imperfect and so subject to m
alicious attacks.\n\nTherefore\, it is necessary to develop methods for de
tecting bugs when they occur and\, ideally\, find new techniques to fix th
em and new strategies for preventing them.\n\nThese are the main aims in c
oding theory and in cryptography: we need ever stronger mathematical tools
to solve new and hard problems arising from the fast evolution of communi
cation technologies.\n\nThe School aims at bringing together Master/PhD st
udents\, academics\, and industry security experts in order to figure out
how some of the sophisticated algebraic and geometric methods have been ap
plied in recent years in constructing error-correcting codes and in defini
ng secure cryptosystems.\n\nThe school includes a multi-disciplinary progr
am and will last for a week\; there will be 4 courses which will explain h
ow geometric and algebraic tools are used in coding theory and cryptograph
y.\n\nIn addition to this\, there will be a programming session devoted to
the model-checking and analysis of security protocols with the aid of Tam
arin Prover\, a session in which industries will explain how codes and cry
ptographic systems play a crucial role in modern technologies and a contri
buted talk session for young researchers with a high profile\, where the b
est presentation will be awarded. Also\, there will be a lecture "De Compo
nendis Cifris: a national initiative" by Prof. Massimiliano Sala from Univ
ersity of Trento in which he will introduce the national initiative De Com
ponents Cifris and the benefits of the synergies between Academia and Indu
stries.\n\nLecturers:\nIlaria Chillotti (Zama)\nDelaram Kahrobaei (City Un
iversity of New York)\nAlberto Ravagnani (Eindhoven University of Technolo
	gies)\nLeo Storme (Ghent University)\n\nLecturer Programming Session:\nMar
iapia Raimondo (Università degli Studi della Campania Luigi Vanvitelli)\n\
nCommunity Lecturer:\nMassimiliano Sala (Università degli Studi di Trento)
	\n\nLecturers from Industries:\nBluenet srl\nSTMicroelectronics
